THIS IS IT! IT WAS A LOT OF WORK, BUT WORTH EVERY HOUR, WE HOPE YOU'LL THINK SO, TOO!
TIPIS ARE COOLER THAN TENTS! No, this isn't just my opinion because of the awesome paintings on them, it's true ... they are! The liner inside the tipi, lets air flow in from the open area at the bottom, and up and out, between the liner and the outside cover, letting cooler air circulate inside, and letting warmer air escape through the smoke flaps at the top.
Notice the bottom of the cover is about 4 inches off the ground ... the inside liner tucks inward at the bottom, keeping what's supposed to be inside, in, and the outdoor critters out! There is a fire ring inside for small fires at night for warmth or cooking, or solar lights you can bring inside at night, for light.
There is so much Native American History in this area, we knew the moment we first saw one of the tipis, that they would be a perfect addition to our campground! We have stories to tell our kids, that they should know and remember...this part of Wisconsin can help explain it all in a way they'll understand at any age, and help them to grow to be kinder, more compassionate adults.
